Welcome! I’d love for you to look at my newborn baby photography in Shadyside, Pittsburgh! This lovely couple contacted me for maternity and newborn photos when they were expecting their first baby.
I did their maternity session earlier this year at Mellon Park and it created a great opportunity to get to know them a bit before they had their baby. Once their baby girl arrived I went to their gorgeous Shadyside home for the photo session. I really love old houses, especially the amazing old homes that are right in Pittsburgh! Mom and Dad decorated a beautiful nursery for their baby girl (totally my style!) and like many old Pittsburgh homes, I loved the giant windows that let in so much lovely light!
Lately, I have been creating two blog posts for each session because I always have so many favorite images that I want to share! So here is part one of my newborn session with beautiful Baby S. When I arrived she was sleepy but we also got plenty of awake photos too! I really prefer those awake shots. And I also love when Grandparents are included in the session so it was so great to get photos of baby S with her Paternal Grandmother who was visiting from out of town! I just love to see the Grandma’s make such a fuss over their Grandbabies!
One of the things I really love about a newborn session with first-time parents is to see how naturally they take to parenting a newborn. Dad comfortably handled the baby like she was his 4th kid and he already knew how she liked to be held when she was fussy. They were both so great with their new baby girl and it was an honor to be in their home to document the connection between them and their new baby!
I know this couple loves these photos now and I know that in the future Mom, Dad and their daughter will love to look back on these images. I always wished I had more photos of my Mom and Dad holding me when I was a baby and I would love to have images that show what my nursery looked like. Listen, I know that some people are hesitant to have a photo session inside their home. I understand that some people feel like their house is “too small, messy, poorly lit”, etc, but I promise you that it is not. I have worked in over a hundred homes and I have never felt this way! There are a lot of perks to having a newborn session in your own home. Not only do you get to stay comfortably at home with your new baby but another main perk is that I get to capture images of your family in the house that you have lovingly created into a home.
