Here is a very little peek at a homebirth that I photographed last week in Pittsburgh!

This is the second home birth that I documented for this amazing family!  It was such an honor to be invited again to document such an intimate moment for this family.   And it is always so very special for me to be able to witness a baby taking their very first breaths.  This Mama worked very hard to deliver her baby.   The birthing team of myself and the midwives spent twelve hours with her two days before baby came.  Unfortunately, it was not time yet and Mom’s labor slowed down to a stop.  Thankfully we were all able to go home and rest and refresh (including Mom) and the following night I got the text, again.   This time her water broke and baby was definitely coming soon!   I wasted no time getting to her house.  She was already in the birthing pool when I got there and baby was born 30 minutes after I arrived.

She delivered (“caught”) her baby and moments after announced that it was a boy!   They had waited to find out the sex of the baby.
The big sister also got to be present for the birth!   Although she was worried about her Mama, she handled it so well and I am sure it is a moment she will never forget!
