As a Columbiana, Ohio Newborn photographer, when I get invited into a family’s home to take photos I tend to get a little chatty. I mean it would probably be awkward if I didn’t! Imagine if I came to take photos for two hours at your home and I barely talked or only talked about the session and what we were doing and to give you some direction!
I LOVE to hear your birth story. I love to hear the details of your pregnancy journey, where you grew up, and how you met your partner! I want to know when and where you got married and how long have you lived in your home! Tell me all the things that you are comfortable sharing!
This beautiful mama did not have a picture-perfect experience with her pregnancy and I don’t think others understand how hard this journey can sometimes be for others.
I personally took for granted my mostly easy pregnancies and births and it wasn’t until I met and talked with so many Moms about their pregnancies and births over the last 14 years that I learned how very different it can be for everyone.
I’m so grateful to all of the Moms and couples who have invited me into their homes to photograph them and who love to share these details with me!
I just really hope that I don’t ever come across as nebby!
(see Pittsburghese Translation Guide –> nebby = nosey) 😆
Other than chatting during our session, check out this blog post to get a real look at what an in-home newborn photo session looks like!
Most of my sessions have a similar flow to them and with each one, the baby runs the show and we take feeding and diapering breaks as needed.
However, the most important part of a newborn session is not actually what it looks like, but what an in-home newborn session feels like! All of my sessions feel like a very stress-free and relaxing experience for the families that I work with!
As with many of my clients, they JUST barely finished completing the nursery before the baby arrived. I promise this is more common than you think! And some families never get around to finishing it and that is ok too! And in this case, it was quite impressive as they just added a whole new addition onto their beautiful home to have room for a nursery! And it’s so perfect for their new baby girl!
I was so happy to include this baby girl’s big brothers in their photo session! This handsome young man had always been the “baby” to his two older brothers and now, he finally gets to be a big brother himself! He was so sweet and gentle with his new baby sister!
And here is baby V with all three of her big brothers and her Mom and Dad. (and her big fur-sister!) She is one lucky little girl! I love having the opportunity to work with blended families! I happen to come from one myself and have an awesome older brother and sister!
Thank you to all the mamas who have invited me into your homes to photograph your precious babies and share your stories with me!
