This Mom of five won my annual photo session giveaway contest and I loved doing a photo session with her and her daughters at their Beaver County home!
What made this photo session even more special is this Mom is also a photographer, and a very talented one! I will admit, photographing another photographer is a bit nerve racking for me, but I also know that as the family photographer, she most likely does not exist in enough photos. So my goal with her session was to include her into as many photos as I could with her beautiful daughters.
We started their photos outside with some bike riding (I love that Mom jumped on her daughters bike!) and bike tricks in the driveway, and then they showed me their goats and chickens out back! Unfortunately, one of the girls stepped on a bee and Mama scooped her up and took her in to tend to the sting. It was very hot and humid out and it began to rain so we took the rest of the photos inside their home.
The girls wanted to put on their ballerina dance outfits and dance to some music with their Mom!
As a boy Mom, I loved spending the afternoon with this Mama and her five daughters! I could have stayed all day hanging out with them and chatting with her!
I absolutely loved that she not only had so many beautiful photos of her daughters hanging on her walls but she also printed a bunch of wonderful photo books for each of her girls! I’m honestly not the best at taking my own advice and I’m always preaching to print your photos but she inspired me to finally hang photos on my walls after living in our new home for over a year!
Although I also photograph families outside at a park setting, absolutely love documentary family photo sessions like this one that capture unique and real life moments inside a family’s home. You may have heard of these referred to as lifestyle, documentary, journalistic, candid, or storytelling photo sessions but I like to simply just call them, family photo sessions at home and they are my very favorite kind of family photo session!
I recently filled out a questionnaire that asked me what my favorite part of my job was. It’s definitely getting to meet amazing families and hanging out with them. 
Dear families that I’ve photographed at home, thank you for inviting me into your lives and into your home to capture your unique family life. I know this is not for everyone but I urge you to give it a try if you haven’t yet.
