As a family photographer in Cranberry Township, I had so many images that I wanted to share from this family photo session that I decided to break it into two blog posts! In my 1st post I shared my favorites from inside this family’s home in Cranberry and now, here are my favorites from when we headed outside!
Going to a local park for your photo session can be fun, but it really loses that special and personal element that you get with taking photos at your own house and yard!
They had such a cute backyard with lots of trees but I am able to make any yard or porch work for your session at your home! Please do not ever feel like your home is not photo worthy!
If this family ever moves, they will always have these photos to look back on of their old home and yard and to show their daughter what her old home used to look like.
I wish I had more photos of the homes that I had throughout childhood! Yes, homeS because we moved a handful of times!
Whenever I come to your home for photos I always ask what things or moments you would like to have captured. This mom had a few ideas and one was to have photos of them sitting in the hammock together because it is something that they actually do together!
If your family does not normally hang out on a hammock together, then that is not something I would have you do for the sake of a photo.
I try to capture things that your family actually does together.
I love when families choose staying home for family photos in the backyard!
Do you know what I love more than just photographing a family at home? It’s learning more about a family and their home! I love to know how a couple met, how long they’ve known each other, when they bought their home and if they made big changes since they bought it. I love to hear about the rose bush you planted together and the fun mailbox out front and the story behind it.
And I want to photograph some of these things because these things in our life are more than just plants or inanimate objects, they have a story behind them. They are our real-life props and they also need to be photographed.
When I come to photograph your family it is not like a regular photo session. Your family gets to just relax, have fun and hang out together and I am most definitely going to chat with you during most of it. It will be more like having an old friend over for a few hours than having a stressful photo session.
What moments would you want of your family photographed? When I had a photographer come to my farm to photograph my family, I made sure she captured us kayaking on the pond, hanging out with my chickens and collecting eggs and us on the big tree swing together. We often did all of these things together. I treasure those images more now than ever since we moved from the farm.
Wouldn’t you prefer a family photo session without the awkward posing and fake cheesy smiles? A photo session where you do not have to beg or bribe your children (or partner) to cooperate? A photo session where you get to relax and just be your imperfect and amazing selves right in the comfort of your home? Then get in touch today and let’s plan your session for 2021.
Are you on Instagram? I’d love to connect with you there!
Go have a look at part one of our session!
