Pittsburgh Fresh 48 Photographer | Mary Beth Miller
I love what a small world…or small city we live in! In Pittsburgh it seems there is always a connection to the people I meet or work with to someone that I know or I am related to! When this soon to be Mom contacted me for a Fresh 48 session for her new baby I was very confused when I viewed her address on her contract. See, it was only one digit away from our old address! It turns out that they bought a home directly across the street from one of our old homes in the neighborhood that we used to live in! And yes, homes as in more than one! I loved that neighborhood so much that we moved out of our one bedroom apartment (my first apartment when I moved out of my dad’s home that I lived in for six years!), into a duplex less than a half a block away and then we bought our first house another half a block away! And it turns out this lovely little family also goes to church with some of my family that still lives in that neighborhood!
I almost always seem to immediately hit it off with all of my clients, but finding out you have connections like this almost makes it feel like I have known this family longer than I really have. It was nice chatting with them while I photographed them with their gorgeous new baby girl! And it was also so neat to be able to go to Forbes hospital where I delivered my first baby 15 years ago!
This precious little one slept so very soundly for almost all of our session. I love meeting these babies when they are just a day old! It is amazing to me that just one day earlier they were all curled up in Mom’s belly! And every time I photograph a new baby and their family, it brings back memories of my husband and I in a similar hospital room feeling totally overwhelmed with joy and anxiety about this new little human that we were now solely responsible for! Oh how I wish I had someone come take photos of us during that brief 48 hours in the hospital! It is now all just a bunch of blurry memories but I am thankful for the handful of photos that my family took while they were visiting.
I hope to run into this beautiful family again when I am back in my old neighborhood! Or maybe we will get to work together again in the future as she grows!
With a Fresh 48 newborn hospital session, I wait until the day after baby is born to give the Mom time to rest and adjust. A Fresh 48 Session is a great alternative to a Birth Session. I also love being able to photograph the whole family during these sessions. So I am happy to try and come at a time that the Grandparents and older siblings may be coming to visit the Mom and new baby at the hospital.
This wonderful Mom also left me such a lovely review on Google!
“Mary Beth did a Fresh 48 session for my recent delivery. This is our first baby, and we knew we wanted to document these beautiful first couple of days while in the postpartum unit. My husband and I were exhausted, and we actually talked about how we sort of regretted scheduling photos due to the stress of trying to look presentable, particularly while I was still recovering. However, we had no regrets from the moment we met Mary Beth. She is friendly, and immediately put our minds at ease. This session wasn’t stressful for us, and she was incredibly kind and considerate if we needed a break. Her work was fantastic. She was able to take gorgeous photos of our little one and flattering family ones with natural light and awesome angles. After the session, she was prompt in sending us our sample files and her mailed packet included all of our pics on a USB, as well as a lovely mini album set. I highly recommend Mary Beth and plan on reaching out to her in the future for other family sessions.”
I am already booking Fresh 48, newborn and family sessions into the spring and summer of 2019! Please keep in mind that I only accept a limited number of sessions each month, so do not hesitate to contact me to get the details or to book your session. I only have a couple spots remaining for birth story sessions, but I still have openings for Fresh 48’s, newborns and in-home family sessions!
