I blogged another newborn session! I photographed my lovely friend and her brand new baby girl a few weeks ago in their Pittsburgh home! You may remember that I photographed her beautiful birth story at The Midwife Center and I also took some maternity photos for her at her home last Winter. I loved getting to go for a visit her and her family and seeing how much Miss Norma had grown since her birth. It is crazy how much a newborn baby grows, changes and develops in just a few short weeks. Although I usually take photos when a baby is around two weeks old, I actually prefer to wait until they are three to six+ weeks old. In just a few weeks babies fill out a little more, show more of their personality, smile more often and have longer awake times. Since I prefer “lifestyle”/natural types of images, rather than posed, I love to photograph a newborn that is wide awake. Mom does not have to stress about getting a baby into a deep sleep during our session, so this creates a very relaxed session for everyone!
The focus on this session was for me to capture images of Mom and her baby together. I know that as a fellow photographer, my friend will be able to capture many images of her baby alone, with her siblings and Dad. However, I know how very hard it is to get photos of yourself with your baby! Sure you can set up a tripod and use a remote and timer, but this is not always easy. So I am very glad that I was able to capture these images for her!
