Wexford Newborn Photos | Baby with her Parents and Dogs

Wexford Newborn Photographer | Mary Beth Miller Photography

……..

Hello and welcome back to my blog! Here are newborn photos of baby with her parents and dogs in Mars, PA. Baby E’s Mom originally contacted me when she was pregnant to book a Fresh 48 Session at the hospital. However, things do not always go as planned and her sweet baby girl needed to go to the NICU right after she was born.

Thankfully it was nothing too serious and she was released to go home after just a few days. Unfortunately, this meant we were unable to do the Fresh 48 session as we had planned. However, I totally understand that things do not always go as planned so I was more than happy to do a newborn session at their home instead.

I usually do newborn photos when the baby is around two to three weeks old but sometimes I do them when they even a month or two old. Unlike most newborn photographers, I do not like to do them in the first week because one of my main goals for a photo session is to keep it relaxing and stress-free for the parents. I know those first few weeks with a newborn are quite difficult and squeezing in a photo session when the baby is a week old is just adding way too much stress. Mom and Dad are super sleep deprived and they just getting a hang of caring for a brand new baby. I encourage families to wait a few weeks or even a couple of months!

Do not get me wrong, I love it when they are tiny and brand new but I suggest waiting a little longer. Mom and Dad may not be getting more sleep but their brains and bodies are getting used to the sleep deprivation so they are functioning better. Also, the baby is bigger and developing a personality! We hear more cooing and see more smiles and they are awake more. Unlike newborn photographers that want a deeply sleeping baby to pose them, I prefer a baby that is awake so I can capture those bright eyes, baby smiles and interaction with their parents!

Baby E was two months old for our session and I happen to think this was the perfect time for photos! She smiled and made eye contact with her parents and Grandparents and she showed us how strong she was by holding up her head! Speaking of her head, just look at this amazing head of hair that she was born with!

I knew they had a couple of fur-kids that I wanted to include in a few of the family photos. I’m definitely a dog person (I currently have two of them) so I never want my clients to apologize for the face licking, barking or dog hair on my pants! Believe me, I am used to it! Getting photos with dogs always adds a little bit of fun and chaos to the session, but it is the kind of chaos that I am happy to create! Dogs are a big part of the family and I always want to get a few family photos with them too! Enjoy this series of images of me attempting to get a full family photo!

On the day of their session, baby E’s maternal Grandparents and Auntie were visiting for the weekend so I definitely wanted to include everyone in the photos! Baby E has the sweetest Grandma and Grandpa and seeing them cuddle their first grand-baby definitely brought some tears to my eyes!

I know I say this all the time, but I am sincere when I say it was a pleasure and an honor to meet and work with this wonderful family. I’ve been photographing the most awesome people for the last TEN YEARS and I’m so very grateful for all of the great folks that I not only get to hang out with for a few hours, but I get to know them and then provide them with priceless memories of their families. I never take this job for granted.
