Although I have been into photography for more than half of my life and professionally shooting for nine years, I have never entered into a photography contest. However, in December of 2017 I wrote out my goals for 2018 and decided that I would enter a few photography contests this year! I am not sure what held me back in the past, but I was glad I entered the Shoot and Share Photo Contest. Of the 50 images that I submitted, 15 ranked in the top 30% of 412,379 photos submitted!! Eight of those images made it to the 11th of 12 rounds and ranked in the top 10%. That is better than I ever imagined getting when I entered the contest! The majority of my images that ranked well were my personal images, mostly of my my son Silas. My top image was of my niece and my son playing in the sprinkler, also one of my own favorite images! I look forward to entering more contests this year and in the future.
