I was beyond giddy when one of my favorite return clients emailed me requesting a photo session at the Pittsburgh Zoo!! Not only do I love the zoo, I love documenting families at the places that they love! I really like to photograph a family just hanging out and having a fun day together! I call this kind of session a Real Life Session, but it can also be known as a documentary, Day in the Life or Storytelling photo session. After I photographed them around the zoo for a few hours they headed to the local hot dog shop for lunch and ice cream.
I am so glad that they chose such a fun place for lunch because it is decorated to look like an old diner from the 1950’s. Photographing this family at lunch was not part of our original plans, I may have invited myself to lunch to continue shooting them!
It was big brothers birthday and it was also the first time they tried soda! Or “pop” as we call it here in Pittsburgh!
