Pittsburgh Birth Photographer – Mary Beth Miller Photography

This is the second birth that I photographed for this Pittsburgh family. I attended and photographed the birth of their second son four years ago. Last time, this Mom had a very fast labor and birth. She delivered their baby boy less than 15 minutes after I got there! (good thing I did not stop for that iced coffee!) I had a good feeling this baby was going to come fast like her brother. So when Mom sent me a text at 5 am telling me she was in labor, I grabbed my camera bag and headed straight to their home. When I am on call for a birth I make sure my camera bag is always ready to go. (and I made my coffee to go!) And she did come fast, about an hour after I arrived.
Her old doggy was so concerned about her while she was in labor.
In the dark early hours of the morning, they welcomed a gorgeous little girl into their family! Just like her last waterbirth, Mom delivered her own baby in the comfort of a birthing pool. And once again, she had the support of her husband who was in the birthing pool with her. After photographing over a dozen water births, I am convinced birth is easier in the water.
Her two older brothers woke up just after the baby was born and they came in to meet their new baby sister.
They were so loving and gentle and took turns holding her.
I know she is going to always have these two looking out for her as she grows up.
And here is the family dog again, anxious to smell and meet the new baby of the family.
Baby loved her first bath!

these are beautiful! definitely get all the feels looking at birth photography. Great work capturing this new life entering the world.
So, so sweet. I love the details with the dog comforting in the beginning and then looking on later on after the birth. The snuggle session with the family at the end is the perfect finish to this session – what a great way to wrap up a birth session… especially an in-home birth!
