I had the great honor of photographing another amazing homebirth!
Although each and every birth is special to me, this one in particular was very special to me
because this was the 2nd birth that I photographed for this family!
This is the 2nd time I had a repeat birth client and it will be happening again for another family in just a few weeks!
Having a repeat birth client is really the greatest form of flattery to me!
Two years ago I photographed the homebirth of this families 2nd child, a beautiful baby boy!
That baby came so very fast, not long after I walked in their door!
This time, Mama was expecting her 3rd baby, another planned homebirth, and a surprise sex baby!
And this time was a bit different. Baby #3 is known as a wildcard, they could come fast, or like my 3rd baby, take their time.
This poor Mama was in labor for weeks! I spent the night at her house days before the actual birth…but it was a false alarm….
but I was more than willing to be there just in case it was baby time!
But a week or so later I got a text from Dad at 5am, it was baby time! For real this time!
So I headed to their house asap.
Mama labored long and hard all morning.
She moved around the house between contractions and even got to labor outside in the sunshine on their deck.
After some time outside and some hugs from her two children, she knew it was time to get back to her room….
And just like her last birth, she delivered her baby peacefully at the side of her bed with the assistance of
her very supportive husband and amazing midwife.
This Mama was just so amazing and strong!
Both Grandmothers and and Aunt were in the living room with the older siblings
and they were all so excited and anxious to hear the news….
….It’s a GIRL!
Big sister was thrilled with the news!!
Big Brother and Big Sister helped the midwife check out their new baby sister.
I just LOVE working with this beautiful midwife and observing her gentle nature with her clients and their family,
and especially her tender touch with the new babies.
I LOVE being able to capture these intimate and beautiful first moments for my clients!
And taking their 1st portrait as a family of five.
It is truly an honor to have a client hire me to attend and document their birth.
Especially when it is a homebirth, which is such a very intimate setting.
I am so grateful to my client for the opportunity, again!
And grateful that she allows me to share these special moments on my blog!
