Birth Centers, Homebirth Midwives and Doulas in the Pittsburgh Area

As a Pittsburgh Birth Photographer, I have had the opportunity to work alongside some of Pittsburgh’s best midwives and doulas! So here is a list of midwives and doulas that I know of in the greater Pittsburgh area.

Pittsburgh Birth Centers:

Unfortunately, Pittsburgh only has one freestanding birth center. Fortunately, the one that we have is amazing! I had two of my babies at The Midwife Center that is located in the Strip District near downtown Pittsburgh. If you have any questions about my experience, I’m happy to share. I think it is important to note that, unlike hiring a home birth midwife, you will not be connected to just one midwife during your pregnancy. At The Midwife Center, much like an OBGYN practice, although they do their very best that you get you to know each midwife on staff, you will get whoever is on call when you go into labor.

Pittsburgh Homebirth Midwives:

Here are three homebirth midwives whom I have attended births with, and who are currently accepting new homebirth clients. It is important to contact them as soon as possible, as their schedules fill up pretty fast and they can only accept so many births each month.
