So many Pittsburgh area babies have been born during the pandemic and unfortunately things were and have not been so normal for these sweet kiddos.
Dubbed “pandemic babies”, many of these little ones have missed out on things like newborn photos, first birthday parties, holiday gatherings and meeting all of their family members in a timely manner.
Although I photographed the adorable first son in this family when he was newborn, I did not get to meet or photograph their “pandemic baby” when he was a newborn. However, I finally got to meet him for a photo session with his whole family right before his first birthday!
Thankfully things are getting closer to “normal” and this little guy got to have a first birthday party!
When we arrived at the park for their session it was a foggy fall morning and I love how it made everything glow! This was the first image I captured of Dad snuggling his son to keep him warm in the chilly morning air while Mom performed a last minute diaper change in the car on baby brother. (these things happen and are expected when you have little ones!)
However, it did not take long for the sun to rise high enough to dissipate the fog and take the chill out of the air and we ended up having the perfect morning for their family photo session!
I often get parents that contact me about a photo session for their baby’s first birthday (ok, 99% of the time it is Mom and not Dad inquiring about photos 😆) but I always tell them that although I would love to do a session for their child’s first birthday, I do not do photo sessions just for a child or baby. My photo sessions always include the whole family.
I cannot believe what a big kid this guy is growing up to be and that he is going to be four in just a few more months.
I absolutely love hanging out with this beautiful family. Our last few sessions took place at their home so it was nice to try something different and meet at the gorgeous Walled Gardens of Pittsburghs’ Mellon Park for their family photos.
This little guy is not quite walking yet, which I appreciate so he could not get away from us 😆 But I am sure it will not be long before he is running all over the place!
Getting this photo of the parents holding the hands of their little one in between them is always one of my favorites.
In addition to the naturally posed images that I capture, I always love get these candid and fun “in between” moments. How sweet is that photo of him kissing the chubby cheek of his little brother! ❤️
And yes, I may have kind of overshared images from this first birthday/family photo session! I can not help myself, I have so many favorites!
Thank you so much to this wonderful family for trusting me to be their family photographer again and again! It really means so much to me when my clients choose me multiple times to be their photographer!

Love these! What adorable siblings. I too technically have a pandemic baby. It’s so nice they finally got to have their family photo session! And I absolutely think sessions should always include the entire family!
The brotherly love is so sweet!
My heart goes out to all the 2020 Moms of newborns who missed out on so much! But so glad things are getting back to normal and baby boy got a first birthday party and Mom got these beautiful photos to remember these moments!
These are fantastic – what a beautiful family!
What a history story these babies will get to share with their babies!
