Forgive me if I over-gush about how much I loved photographing this in-home documentary family photo session!   These storytelling sessions truly are my very favorite kind of session.  In fact, I love them so much that I will predominantly be booking this kind of session in 2019.   I should probably title this blog post; “Attention, important changes coming for Mary Beth Miller Photography!”, but I will save that for another blog post in the very near future.  This change is similar to how I stepped away from posing newborn babies on beanbags with flower headbands and knit hats to photographing newborns in a more natural way.  I will be taking a step away from photographing families in a field at sunset and instead, I will photograph families in their homes, their yards and their neighborhoods.   I’ll also be photographing families going on an adventure to some of their favorite places.  Stay tuned and I will post more soon about this!

In the meantime, have a look at this storytelling session with this really awesome family!   I photographed this cutie a few times since he was a newborn and I love that Mom wanted to book a session where they get to just hang out in their house!   I arrived in the morning and photographed little O and his Mom and Dad doing the things they usually do on a weekend afternoon.   They read books, painted, played trains in his bedroom and played outside in the yard.   There was no stress for Mom and Dad and no pressure for O to smile and perform for the camera.   In fact, it was just the opposite.  O got to do his own thing, just like a two year old prefer to do.

With this kind of family photo session there is:

no song and dance,

no fake cheesy smiles,

no worries about having the perfect weather.

and no stress for Mom to dress everyone in coordinating outfits

Your family just gets to be yourselves in the comfort of your own home.
