As a Pittsburgh in-home newborn photographer, I love traveling to all of the different little neighborhoods all around the city! This couple and their adorable baby boy live in the beautiful neighborhood of Highland Park.
This adorable guy was wide awake and alert when I arrived to their home. He was so interested in what I was doing and so happy and full of smiles! I love that Mom decided until he was a few months old to do their session. Teeny tiny newborns are sweet and precious, but I love seeing a baby once they grow a bit, have a personality and smile and coo at their Mom and Dad!
I always encourage my expecting clients to wait until they feel ready to book their newborn session. Some parents want to do it a.s.a.p, when baby is just a couple of weeks old, and some choose to wait until baby is a few months old. I love photographing babies of all ages, so either is totally fine with me!
What is important to me is that Mom feels somewhat rested and recovered from the birth and is ready for their photo session. I just pencil my clients in for a couple of weeks after their due date then I have them reach out when they are ready to get one my schedule. Since I have a fairly flexible schedule, I always have multiple dates open when they are ready to do their photo session!
Here’s a blog post I wrote with Five Reasons Why I Love to Photograph Babies of all Ages!
“Mary Beth was amazing to work with throughout the entire process. She responded quickly after I reached out. She recommended waiting a little longer after my son was born for the photoshoot. And we’re so glad that we took her advice. We absolutely love all the photos she took. The framing of the shots and the editing were perfect. She was able to capture our family just the way we wanted–a realistic portrayal of everyday life, but just prettier.” -J
I am thrilled when my clients leave me such awesome reviews.
It really means so much to me!
And I REALLY loved this part of her review:
“…a realistic portrayal of everyday life…”
Although this is exactly what I try to do with my photo sessions,
I literally could not have said it better myself.
I’m not the kind of photographer that wants all of my sessions and all of my photos to be uniform and exactly the same! I love that each of my sessions are unique to each family that I work with. I believe each family is unique so I think their photos should be too! I also believe that having a session in my clients’ home, definitely make them so much more special and unique.
After an hour or so I wore him out taking pictures and Mom and Dad laid him on the couch where he just dozed off into a sweet little slumber. (as a mom to three, I was both impressed and jealous at how easily they got him to fall asleep!)
I really love telling families to just relax and hang out on their couch together like they normally would on a lazy Sunday afternoon. I feel this is the best way to capture their real lives!
I really get to meet the most down to earth and awesome people. I could easily over stay my welcome and hang out with families all day!
I’m so very grateful that I get to meet and photograph so many unique and amazing families.
I feel truly blessed to call this my job.
