Can I Include the Grandparents in our Family Photo Session? | The Mansion at Hartwood Acres

I’ve had so many people ask me if I can include the Grandparents in their family photo session and my answer is always, “ABSOLUTELY! Yes, Please!”

This beautiful family brought along their maternal Grandparents and the Maternal Great Grandmother and I was just thrilled to be able to include them at their family photo session at the Mansion at Hartwood Acres.

I especially love getting generational photos! Look at these four generations of beautiful women!

“Mary Beth, thank you SO much for these pictures. We love them so much and they mean so much to us ♥️ every single one turned out amazing! We will cherish these forever. I’m so grateful we were able to get pictures of the kids with my Gran. Thank you thank you! You’re amazing!!”

Beautiful texts like this from this Mom are just so very important to me! They really remind me why I do what I do! I can’t thank my clients enough when they take a few minutes to send them! 🥹🥰

I have to admit that I tend to get a little choked up when I get to include the grandparents in a photo session. Unfortunately, I always lacked the “Grandparent experience” and that always left a little gap in my childhood.

I only had two Grandparents when I was a kid and they were both senile by the time I was 8 years old. I can admit that I have always been, and still am, envious of those that had awesome Grandparents in their lives!

Also, my Dad died a few years before I had my first son so it really tugs at my heartstrings when I get to document adults with their parents. I am always sure to include images of them with just their parents.

It really means so much to me to be able to photograph the Grandparents and Great Grandparents with the rest of the family.

Seriously, how adorable are these two? If you are an adult and you still have a Grandparent in your life, please take a minute to be so thankful for that! And if you still have your own parents in your life, that is really something to be grateful for!

And I have to say it, maybe you should consider booking a photo session and inviting the Grandparents to join us for some photos!

I honestly feel so honored to be able to provide these images for families! It worked out perfectly that Great Gran was in town for the session! Immediately afterward, she headed back to her home in Florida.

As a Pittsburgh Family Photographer with many years of experience photographing families, I have learned to never put my camera away until I am sitting in my car. Sometimes the best photos I take are the very last ones at the end of the session. Sometimes those are taken on the walk back to the parking lot.

I loved how at the end of their session, these little ones sprinted over to where their “Great Gran” was patiently waiting for us in the garden.

Then this awesome Great Gran allowed her adorable great-grandchildren to catch a ride back to the car! How could I not capture a moment like this?!

So the answer will always be YES when you ask me if you can invite the Grandparents to take part in your family photo session!
