About

Hi, I'm Mary Beth and I hate to have my photo taken.

Seriously. I feel completely awkward on THAT side of the camera. I get crazy eyes and I don't know what to do with my arms.

However, I also know the importance of pushing past that awkwardness to exist in photos with my family.

If you also feel this way, then I might be the photographer for you.

Mary Beth Miller and family photo session

My favorite photos are when I am engaged with my kids and I'm not looking at the camera and these are the photos I love to take for my clients.

I'll still take some posed "portraits" where everyone is looking at the camera and smiling (perfect for Facebook profiles and Grandma's wall) but the rest of our session will be totally laid back.

I'd rather you all just have fun and be yourselves while I photograph the real and candid moments.

No awkwardness, no crazy eyes, no worrying about what to do with your arms. I want you to snuggle your baby or play with your kids and leave the rest up to me.

My goal is to make it a fun and stress-free experience.

I also know the stress behind preparing for a family photo session; the scheduling, choosing the "right" outfits, and worrying about how my kids (and my husband) will behave.

I'll make scheduling easy with no strict time constraints and I'll tell you to dress comfortably in your favorite clothes (please do not try to be "Pinterest Perfect"!)

I'll insist you let the kids just be kids and I promise that your partner will not hate it (they might even have fun).

And now, here's a little more about me...I'm assuming that's why you clicked on this page, right?I get it, I'm nebby and I LOVE to read other peoples about me pages!

•I was born and raised in Pittsburgh (but I know very little about the Penguins, Steelers or Pirates, #sorrynotsorry)

•My style is...comfy-casual (is that even a style?)

•I'm a Mom to three awesome boys. They're 10, 14 & 16 but don't let people scare you, teenagers are actually pretty awesome but it's totally weird that they are taller than me.

•I'm married to a pretty awesome guy (23 years together and I have no idea how he puts up with me most of the time but we definitely laugh a lot together)

•I'm a Dog Mom to two rescue dogs: Rosco (the giant Bernese Mt. Dog) and Lucy (a petite golden retriever). I have no idea what we were thinking getting one of the biggest dogs possible...

•My favorite place to be is in the woods and I love the idea of camping but sleeping in a tent makes me super grumpy.

•I love to rewatch seasons of New Girl, The Office, Schitt's Creek & Friends (laughter is the BEST medicine and I have a hard time falling in love with a new show) Sometimes I love crime dramas but I am usually too tired to keep up.

•Memes and funny animal videos keep me laughing and sane (especially in 2020)

•I'm 42 and I still do not know how to put on make up or do my hair and I have no clue what is going on with my eyebrows but I can change your flat tire. (Thanks Dad)

•My family lived on a garlic farm for nine years! I was a crazy chicken lady that dabbled in beekeeping and I loved to be in the garden but we recently relocated back to the residential life.
