Last week, while my oldest son took a biology class at the Carnegie Museum, I got to spend the afternoon with my beautiful friend and her precious little girl! I can hardly believe that it was just over a year ago that I photographed the moment that this sweet baby girl was born! Time has a way of slipping by much too fast! I also got to take maternity and newborn photos for them! I met them just as she was waking from her afternoon nap so she was all snuggly and sweet as her Mama got her ready to go for a walk with us.
My lovely friend is also a talented family photographer who hosts a wonderful podcast where she chats with other talented photographers! Go check out her Facebook page and website so you can go listen! Her podcast is not just for photographers. I think it is wonderful for any parent, grandparent or really anyone that wants to take better pictures of their family! I love to listen to her shows while I am editing photos! I found it amusing that while I edited these photos, I was listening to her latest show! I also have to credit her with keeping me motivated for my 365 photo-a-day project! She has a Flickr group for others doing the same thing, and she is also participating in the project this year! When I spend time with my mom friends I really love to get a few photos of them doing those every day Mommy things. Like putting on their socks and shoes, changing their clothes or kissing on their little ones super kissable cheeks. Or getting photos of them pushing them on a swing or holding their hand down the sliding board. Unless you have a spouse that loves to take photos, us Mom’s never have enough of these everyday moments captured for us. When I look back at my older photos, the ones that really speak to my heart are the few that I have of me with my children. Photos of me feeding them, cooking with them, giving them a bath or holding their chubby little hand as we walk down the sidewalk together. One that really stands out in my mind is one of me blowing bubbles with my oldest. My husband is not so great at picking up my camera without me asking, but that day he thought to get a photo of us and I will forever treasure that image. As a family photographer, I want to capture these beautiful everyday moments for Mothers.
I think it is so very important to get in the photos! For Pittsburgh, it was an unusually warm February day.
We walked a few blocks to grab some lunch and we got to eat outside.
We also walked to the playground so little Miss N could show me how
much she loved to swing and go on the slide!I really loved spending some time with them!
My son signed up for two more months of Carnegie classes,
so I have a feeling we have more lunch dates in the future!
