If the thought of scheduling a portrait session for your family stresses you out, it’s ok, I promise you’re not alone! So many Mothers that contact me for a photo session admit to being stressed out about the whole thing! I always assure them that planning a family session does not have to include stress! When you schedule a session with me, it is quite the opposite. I promise that our session will not only be stress-free, it’ll be fun and maybe even relaxing!
I know right now you are thinking, yeah right! “You have not met my kids or my spouse!” Listen, I totally understand! I am a Mom to three boys and a wife to a man that acts worse than my children when it comes time for a photo session!
After attempting two traditional portrait sessions with my own family, I learned that was not the best option for us and now we only do lifestyle photo sessions! A session where I do not have to stress about our outfits matching or worrying about how my family will behave. With a lifestyle session we get to dress in our favorite clothes and just hang out and be ourselves!
Here are a bunch of images to show you what a fun and stress free family photo session can be like! I have worked with this wonderful family so many times and I love that for the last few years, they chose to have a session right in their own back yard!
We usually start out with me capturing some images of them playing in the yard, then before anyone gets too grass stained or disheveled, I capture some fun and semi-posed images of everyone together. This is where I capture some of those photos where everyone is looking at the camera and smiling. You know, the kind of picture Grandma wants printed and hanging on her wall!
After that, I get more candid photos of them just hanging out and playing together then we moved to the front porch for a few more relaxed and semi posed photos! By then, an hour or so has passed and the kids are usually over it 😆 so I say my goodbyes! I leave feeling confident that I captured a wide assortment of images that I know Mom will love!
Don’t let that sweet pouty face fool you, this cutie was having so much fun during our session!
I promise you that family photo sessions do not have to stressful! They can include laughter and fun and we can leave out the begging and bribing to get everyone to smile for the camera. With this kind of session everyone is relaxed and I can capture some true smiles and your child’s personality will shine through the images.
