As a photographer for families in the Edgeworth area, I was thrilled when a wonderful past client wanted to book a family photo session to create lasting memories for her children before they moved from the first house they called home.
“We are moving. Everything is happening (faster than I thought!) and so I am very thankful we set this up because now this will allow us to capture moments with our family in this home— the timing couldn’t have been more perfect— truly! I was hoping to get perhaps some of the kids in their room so they can remember them. And of course just us in and around the house…” -K. (mom to three)
YES PLEASE to all of this!

As a kid who moved multiple times during my childhood, I WISH I had more photos from inside my old homes! I would have loved images of my family in the living room or kitchen where we spent all of our time and especially photos of myself in my bedroom.
With my past experience mixed with ideas from Mom, I know exactly what to capture for a session like this! And of course, a family is what makes an ordinary house a home, so capturing images of this family just being themselves and being together was my main priority for this and every photo session that I shoot!

I love to ask the kids to show me their rooms and to tell me about the things in them! Then I asked them what items are most special to them and which they want to have photographed! It is always so fun for me to see what they choose!

The following images were an attempt at a recreation of a photo from the newborn session of the baby boy! We didn’t quite nail it, but we got close and it was a lot of fun trying!

The Mom is definitely going to miss the beautiful woodland-themed wallpaper in the nursery so I was sure to capture it in a few images!

Mom wanted to ensure I captured images of the older kids in their favorite climbing tree!

They also invited me into the basement and I was so very surprised to see they had an amazing playroom downstairs! It is a dream room for little kids! A tent, climbing equipment, games, a reading nook, musical instruments and more!

I have so many more images from outside in the yard, but maybe I will save those for another blog post! This family should have no problems selling their gorgeous home in one of Pittsburghs’ most charming neighborhoods! And I wish them all the best on their new adventures in their new home, just down the street from the old one!

As always, it means the world to me when a client takes the time to send me kind words after this session. It reaffirms why I do what I do and often those words can make my whole day…week or month!
“Oh my gracious. I couldn’t look through these long enough. I am and will forever be grateful that you captured us in this house. Having these to show the kids their rooms and how much fun they had at this home is bringing me so much peace right now. Thank you! Thank you!!! -K
