Is it Worth Getting a Newborn Photoshoot? | Treesdale Newborn Photographers

Is it worth getting a newborn photoshoot? I think this is a question a lot of expecting or new parents may ask themselves when considering hiring a newborn photographer for their new baby.

In this post, I’ll tell you my thoughts and I’ll also share some images from a recent newborn photo session with a sweet baby boy and his family in their home in the Treesdale neighborhood of Pittsburgh!

As a professional newborn photographer, my answer is going to be an obvious “YES! Absolutely!” So I am going to also answer this question as a parent. As a Mom who highly regrets not hiring a photographer for my three newborn babies, my answer is still, “YES! Absolutely!”

I am being completely honest when I tell you that every time I photograph a baby and their family, I get a little sad because I will never have images like that of my own family. It’s one of the reasons I do what I do. I love to provide families with memories of their new baby and family that they will have to cherish forever.

Anyone I’ve discussed this with has also mentioned regretting not hiring a newborn photographer. For many of them, newborn photo sessions were just not a thing or well-known because their kids are older. But for others, they had one reason or another and wished they had done a newborn photoshoot.

My babies are now teenagers and let me tell you, the memories begin to fade with every year that they grow older. I honestly can not truly remember how tiny they were in the beginning without having some photos to remind me. I’d also forget all of the adorable expressions they made if I did not have photos of them. When I look at their baby pictures, all of my memories come flooding back.  Your newborn photoshoot will result in a lifetime of memories whenever you look at those images of your tiny new baby.

However, what I do not have are enough images of myself with my new babies. It is so important for me, to get photos of the parents with their new baby. Not only will you cherish these images, but your children will treasure them for their lifetime!

I believe this saying… But children grow up as I’ve learned to my sorrow. So quiet down cobwebs; Dust go to sleep! I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep. …is so painfully accurate. These babies literally change from day to day in the first weeks and months of their lives! It’s so important to have professional photos while they are still tiny and new!

So, is newborn photography worth it? I think the majority of my clients would say yes, it is worth it. Have a peek at some of the very kind words my clients have left for me as a Google Review!

“So I’m not one to normally to write reviews but the experience we had with Mary Beth is totally worth it and I would recommend her to anyone looking for pictures that aren’t overly staged and that capture our family and life at face value!

For a family that doesn’t take many pictures she gave us great advice from the start and her pictures were just amazing. I honestly cried over how wonderful her pictures were of our baby and family. She was so helpful through the whole process and I found her work well worth the price. I will definitely be a repeat customer and I can’t wait to work with her again.” -Ashley P.

“Mary Beth did such an amazing job with our son’s newborn photos. The entire process from start to finish was fantastic and she could not have been better to work with. She came to our house to do an in home newborn session and as first time parents it was so nice to not have to worry about going anywhere. The session was so relaxed and Mary Beth couldn’t have been nicer or more patient if our little guy needed a diaper change or just a break.

We did very little posing and she really just captured us enjoying our little one as well as plenty of just the baby. We couldn’t believe how amazing the photos were – we had so many good ones to choose from! We are so glad we decided to trust Mary Beth with capturing this special time in our lives as we could not have been happier. We will definitely be using her in the future as our family continues to grow and are so grateful to have found a photographer we love!” -Jessica W.

And it was so wonderful to meet and photograph this wonderful family! I love that this Mom wanted to include her 13-year-old “bonus” daughter in the session! This gorgeous big sister was so great with her new baby brother! And we made sure to include the furry big sister into the session!

While I think it is worth asking other friends and family members to see what they have to say, I personally believe professional newborn photography is 100% worth it. Let me save you some regrets later in life, just hire the photographer!
