It may be because I gave birth to two of my own sons there, but I absolutely love doing birth photos at The Midwife Center in Pittsburgh! I had such a wonderful experience being under the care of the midwives and both of my births were unmedicated and amazing. One took a lot longer than the other, but I do not regret choosing to birth there.
I have photographed over a dozen births at TMC and each one was just so beautiful and amazing. If you have any questions about my experience as a birthing mother or a birth photographer there, please do not hesitate to reach out and ask.
Are you expecting a baby in 2021?
Are you considering birth photography or maybe a newborn session?
Allow me to document this very special time for your family!

I have over 12 years of experience photographing births in the Pittsburgh area!
Here is the full blog post from a natural and unmedicated birth that I photographed at The Midwife Center in Pittsburgh. I have had the opportunity to photograph this beautiful family a few times, including the birth of their last baby.
I always love photographing births here at TMC, women in Pittsburgh are so very fortunate to have The Midwife Center as an option to deliver their babies with an amazing group of Midwives and nurses.
My client was a nurse here at The Midwife Center, so the midwives and nurses that attended her birth were also her co-workers. One of the women is the wonderful Midwife that delivered my second son in 2006! It was so great to see her! Coincidentally, she was my unofficial birth photographer at my birth because she took a bunch of photos for me with my camera! And at the time I was still shooting with a film camera!
My client’s Mother flew in from out of state to be there for the birth, she was a wonderful part of the birth team. This was the first birth that she ever witnessed!
When labor slowed down a bit, she decided to do a little walking. We ventured out into the Strip District and walked a few blocks up towards Bloomfield to the Pittsburgh Juice Company! What a refreshing treat on a hot summer day!
The walking helped because when we got back to her birthing room, she was getting much closer to meeting her baby!
After laboring on the bed for a while, she got up and stood at the side of the bed and moments later her baby made her entrance into the world! Another amazing midwife was down on the floor to help “catch” baby and pass her up to Mama!
Baby Harriet came into the world peacefully and beautifully at 9 pounds and 1 ounce! She is daughter #4 for this family!
I loved that the Grandma went home, woke up the older sisters, and brought them to the Midwife Center to meet their new baby sister! One of my favorite parts of being a birth photographer, is to document the older siblings as they meet their new brother or sister for the very first time!
All three of the older sisters were just thrilled with the new baby and took turns holding her. The oldest is a pro at being a big sister and quite confident in her baby handling skills. I bet she is a wonderful Mom’s helper at home!
It was an honor to be asked to document another birth for this wonderful family!
They live close by to one of the Farmers’ Market’s where I sometimes work for our farm, so they often stop by to see me!
It always makes my day to see them!
I look forward to doing more birth photos at The Midwife Center in Pittsburgh!
