A family photo session at a museum? Why yes, we can absolutely do that! Have a look at this Family Photo Session at the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh!
I know I often preach about the importance of having family photos done at home but I also know this is not always possible. Sometimes I book a family that is either new to the area and they are staying in a temporary home until they find something more permanent or I get awesome past clients that have moved away but want ME to photograph their lovely family while they are back in Pittsburgh for a visit! (umm, yes, when that happens it totally makes my week!)
This adorable family chose me as their birth photographer last year when they were expecting their first baby. Unfortunately, they relocated further Northeast but I was thrilled when Mom contacted me about a photo session while they were back in the area for a visit! And to make it all extra awesome, it was their sweet girls FIRST BIRTHDAY!
Since using their home was not an option, I gave them a few ideas on places around the city that we could do their session indoors. (because, Pittsburgh weather) With my style of photography, your family session does not have to take place at a beautiful park at sunset. In fact, I prefer that if we are shooting on location, that we decide on a location that is unique and meaningful for your family!
Disclaimer: If you are a photographer or a family that might want to do this kind of session, there are a few things you have to keep in mind. You will first want permission to have a session at the location before your scheduled session date. Some locations have guidelines that you must follow, permits and/or fees. When you do a session in a public location, it is best to do it on a weekday when there are not a lot of other visitors during your session. And please, be courteous to other visitors.
After exploring the rooms at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History we headed over to the Carnegie Museum of Art, which happens to be in the same building! You can also find the Oakland branch of the Carnegie Library and Carnegie Music Hall!
When this little sweetie started to get hungry and tired, they fed her a snack and Mom and Dad treated me to lunch at The Cafe Carnegie! How awesome is that!? They really are such an awesome family! The food was excellent and it was great to be able to spend more time with them!
This little girl is no stranger to dining out and I was so impressed with how good she was while we ate our lunch!
